Speaker: The Bittersweet Christmas Band

“The Poor Have Only Christmas”

A service on the obligation of those who have more to give freely to those who have less, especially during the holiday season of hope and renewal.  The goal of this service will not be to arouse guilt, but instead to concentrate on awareness and compassion.

“Women of Yule”.

Before there was Christmas, Santa Clause or Father Christmas, there was Yule, and it was the goddesses who presided over this holiday.  There will be personal sharing about women in each of our lives who, knowingly or not, have continued to carry on the spirit of Yule in the traditions of these various ancient goddesses.

Winter Rest and Grace

For many, the holiday rush is unavoidable, but then comes the blessed dormancy of Winter.  We will explore, in song and spoken word, the rightness of accepting that– like the Earth herself – we need times of rest and regeneration.

Traditional and Contemporary Holiday Music

(ZOOM SERVICE ONLY, building will be closed)

Traditional artists Phil Cooper, Kate Early and Margaret Nelson join forces with songwriter and “wise” woman Susan Urban for a show that presents every possible perspective on the holiday season from the reverent to the ridiculous. Two to four-part harmonies and masterful instrumentation on guitar, banjo, mountain dulcimer, hand drum and other percussion instruments make the Bittersweet Christmas Band an act not to be missed!
